You\u2019re creating something &#8211; you\u2019ve usually got a deadline and a budget. Maybe a target audience, and a platform you\u2019re working on. As a lead designer, you have a handful of really important goals:<\/p>\n<p>   1. You need to figure out what the game *is*.<br \/>\n   2. You need to get people psyched about making it.<br \/>\n   3. You need to make sure you can build it with the resources you have available.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.selfawaregames.com\/blog\/2009\/12\/29\/a-little-bit-about-game-design\/\">Admin<\/a> @ Self Aware Games\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>These principles could form the basis of a game &#8212; something like <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Movies\">The Movies<\/a>, but set in a game design studio, where the goal of the game is to create a successful game.<\/p>\n<p>I remember reading, a couple of years ago, about a plug-in for <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Sims\">The Sims<\/a> that allows your Sim character to play <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sim_city\">SimCity<\/a>.
